Natalie Kelly

Board of Gardeners

Natalie Kelly is on our core leadership team (called the Board of Gardeners, because they are responsible to care for the whole ecosystem of V&M). Asked to share a bit about herself, reasons for participating at V&M, and vision for the future of the community, she writes...

"I'm Natalie. I am a  current union organizer, former service worker, Buffy the Vampire Slayer fanatic (yes you should watch it), bookworm, ex-Mormon feminist, and mother of the most adorable 4-year old in the universe. Seattle's been home for about 9 years, and I'm currently a happy resident of Whitecenter.

Valley and Mountain is precious to me as a community grounded in spirituality where you can believe what you believe without pressure, talk about dangerous ideas, and be continually called to be on the move for justice. I thought I was done with religion for a long time, but I found V&M and just kept coming back despite myself.

I'm so excited to watch the V&M community continue to change the discourse on what it means to be Christian/religious/faithful, and to become more deeply embedded in local movements for justice. I'm excited for us to find creative ways to be truly grounded in our own neighborhood and community."
