Enfleshing Freedom: Revolutionary Bible Study — Lent 2022

REGISTRATION IS OPEN for Enfleshing Freedom: Revolutionary Bible Study—Lent 2022

Wednesdays March 2-April 13
7:00PM-8:30PM Pacific | Online via Zoom | Convened by Rev. Osagyefo Sekou

Registration is open for our Lent series of Revolutionary Bible Study. This spring, Rev. Sekou will be leading us in a reading of Mark 11-16:8 alongside M. Shawn Copeland's Enfleshing Freedom Body, Race, and Being, and The Last Week: What the Gospels Really Teach About Jesus's Final Days in Jerusalem by Marcus J. Borg and John Dominic Crossan.

We are in living a pre-fascist moment in the United States. From the attack on the U.S. Capital to the banning of books to dictates about a woman’s bodily autonomy suggest that we are one national election away from a draconian government that we believed to be relegated to the dust bins of history. How shall we resist? Is resistance even possible? If we do not have the answer we do have hope. Easter is about the resurrection in the Empire. Jesus’s story is a story of being free in bondage; resisting when it seems futile. Enfleshing Freedom: Body, Race, and Being by Dr. M. Shawn Copeland will be our theological guide as we explore the legacy of the Cross and the possibilities of being free in times like these.
